Our Year 7 Camp (Wednesday 5 February – Friday 7 February) at The Summit was a great success! We had 95% of the cohort attend which is magnificent. The camp was an opportunity for students to meet other students, make more friends, learn more about their peers and their teachers, all whilst participating in exciting and thrilling activities.
The camp structure and core beliefs tie in well with our school. Yes the students are asked to step outside their comfort zone by challenging themselves to complete activities like the Leap of Faith, Sky Walk and the Flying Fox but they sure do enjoy themselves at the same time. The staff at The Summit Camp spoke of the Five Keys which would help to stretch them in their work, try new endeavours with no regrets and work with others to bring out the best in each other. Here are Mordialloc College, we would like to see our students continue with this philosophy in their studies back at school.

The Year 9 students sat the General Achievement Test (GAT) last Friday morning. All of the students were outstanding in their behaviour and attitude to the test. They are to be commended for the way they conducted themselves prior to commencing, during and after the test was completed. It was evident that the students understood the importance of the GAT and why they were doing it. The results of the data will be used not only this year but in Years 10 – 12 for staff to understand each student’s strengths and areas for improvement. This data is correlated with end of semester exams as well as benchmark tasks to gauge students are on track with their learning and reaching their potential. Here are Mordialloc College, we strive to teach our students at their point of need and endeavour to see them show maximum growth in their learning.
