Vale Dermot Monahan MCHS Principal 1985 – 1991
Described as a kind man with good heart. Dermot is remembered fondly as very quiet and spending a lot of time in his office – so much so that he was known as “The Grey Ghost”. However, he was always available to discuss any problems that the staff might have. He was the son of Irish/Americans. His mother would call the school asking to speak with Diarmid and announce that she was his “mudder”.
We are extremely thankful to our new sponsors:
Hodges Mentone – Paul Johnston
Mordialloc Cellar Door – Peter Follett and his team
Butch and Sundance Aspendale – Melissa and Anthony and Team
Bo Gurk’s in Edithvale – Jarred and team
SuperSigns – Simon Austen
Our “I Love Mordy” I Love Aspendale” and “I Love Edithvale” stickers were generously produced by Simon and have been available at Bo Gurks, Butch and Sundance and Mordialloc Cellar Door – thank you to all these businesses who have been so kind to help us out. The stickers are also available at the General Office of the School. Thank you to Julia at Mordialloc College for all her coordination.
Our heartfelt thanks to Heather Scott, Denver and the Team at Mordialloc Men’s Shed. The members kindly created “donation boxes” for the sticker drive and Heather was our powerhouse coordinator of the project. Thank you so much Heather for all that you do for us. Heather is also very busy as a committee member at Chelsea and District Historical Society.
A special shout out also goes to Dr Slav Vyater at Your Dentistry in Cheltenham for his generous sponsorship renewal.
Another wonderful sponsor to come on board with us is The Oke Family – Oke’s Surfboards. To John Davison, thanks go out to you as our special envoy.
To Rod Gaskell, Barbara Dowling, Ian Fieggen, Derek Carter, Michelle Roberts, David Downie and Jude at Kosdown and all those who are rallying to help steer the Centenary History publication over-the-line we truly appreciated your efforts.
Libby Niven is our patient and amazing graphic designer for Ventured who voluntarily gives up her precious time to help us. Thanks a million Libby.
