Mordialloc College is committed to the practices and values surrounding child safety.

All procedures, measures, and practices have been developed in accordance with Ministerial Order No 870 – Child Safe Standards – Managing the risk of child abuse in schools. Mordialloc College is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making. Mordialloc College has zero tolerance for child abuse. Mordialloc College is committed to providing a child-safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives.

Particular attention will be paid to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTI children, as well as the safety of children with a disability. Every person involved in Mordialloc College has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role he/she plays individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people is at the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.

All staff, volunteers and board members of Mordialloc College are required to observe child safe principles and expectations for appropriate behaviour towards and in the company of children as mandated by our child safety policy in accordance with Ministerial Order 870. The code of conduct and policy applies in all school situations, including school camps and in the use of digital technology and social media, embedding and underpinning Risk Management Approach, Human Resources Practice and Promoting participation and empowerment of children.
