On Tuesday 12 September, Mordialloc College hosted a Chess Victoria Zonal Tournament. This would be the last opportunity for many schools and students to qualify for the State Finals later this year. With 20 teams participating from over 10 different schools, the event proved to be hotly contested and buzzing with excitement over the day. Participants from Mordialloc College not only learned from their experiences last year, but also exceeded expectations in this tournament. With one point for a win and half a point for a draw, some notable performances on the day included:
- Zander Howell 9E (with a score of 4.5/7)
- Felix Mocnay 10H (4.5/7)
- Toby Wolff 9I (4/7)
- Alex Chan 10C (3.5/7)
